Three Turns Festivals Tarragona-Tres Tombs
Festival Date: 10-03-2024
This procession of horses and carts through the city streets is one of the oldest festivals in Tarragona. After the procession the animals are blessed, gifts are handed out and there is a traditional “coques de Sant Antoni”.
It is an impressive and colourful affair, where you’ll see lots of lovely horses and quite a number of Shetland Ponies. Some of the carts have branding, some people are wearing traditional costumes, and it’s actual an unusual and great photo opportunity.

A New York Times critic, Florence Fabricant, said this about Tarragona: “We left Tarragona feeling as though we had been let in on a wonderful secret that told not only of the reach of ancient Rome, but of other historic periods, layered within and around the city. And that the secret was meant to be shared.”
