Family Things to Do in Benidorm

It’s that time that the whole family has been looking forward to for weeks, your holiday to beautiful Benidorm. You have your swimming costumes and sun cream packed, your flights booked and you are already dreaming of lazy days by the pool and playing on the beach. You only get to enjoy your holidays for a short time, so you want to make sure that you fit in as much fun and relaxation as possible while you are away.

Benidorm, located on the sunny Costa Blanca in Spain, is a purpose built beach resort which is completely designed for fun and enjoyment. It is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Spain for families and kids. There are so many family friendly things to do there that it is pretty difficult to get bored. The most difficult part of your holiday will be deciding which activities to do first.

Here are some great ideas of where you can go and what you can do while you are enjoying your family getaway in the sun:

Aqualandia

This was the very first waterpark ever to open in Spain and it has been a popular family destination ever since 1985. This enormous park covers an area of 150,000 square meters and when your kids walk through the gates they will be amazed by the huge selection of waterslides, wave pools, chute rides and even man-made beaches. Your older daredevil kids will love the Kamikaze and the Big Bang and the little ones will love the smaller slides and the fun toddler water play areas.

Terra Natura

This is the ideal spot for kids who love animals, as they will be able to see several different species of birds and animals in this fun and interactive park. The park is divided up into different continents, with the animals on display corresponding to each continent. It’s a great place to teach your little ones about the diversity of animals around the world. The park also has several fun rides, games and even waterslides.

Ride a Glass Bottomed Boat

A great activity for families in Benidorm is taking a glass bottom boat ride to Benidorm Island, an enormous rock formation which can be seen from almost any location along the Benidorm coast. The boat will glide along above brightly coloured fish, rays and maybe even sharks, so that your kids can peer through the glass and catch a glimpse of an amazing underwater wonderland.

Take a Day Trip To Altea

Another great spot for a quiet and relaxed day with the family is Altea, which is a small village that is a short distance away from Benidorm. This peaceful village is quite a contrast to the busy vibe of Benidorm and you will get a chance to experience more of the local Spanish culture. There is an outdoor market every week where you can shop for handicrafts, fresh produce, locally made food and clothing.
