Jaipur Literature Festival the greatest literary show on earth

Described as the ‘greatest literary show on earth’, the Jaipur Literature Festival is the world’s largest free event of its kind.

Apart from being a change-making platform for dialogue, the festival is also an empowering platform for artisans, weavers and craftsmen of talent from across India. It strives to empower artisans/ craft clusters and young entrepreneurs in the handcrafted industry and enables them to reach a wide consumer-base.

The space ensures a diverse range of products; hand tooled to perfection, showcased for the world in a colourful, vibrant bazaar space.

Stall holders are selected for both uniqueness and variety: funky stationery, unusual gifts, edgy or traditional clothing, exquisite jewellery, comfy footwear, novel lifestyle and home décor goods all come together under one buzzing space.

There are 3 distinct market venues-

The main Festival Bazaar at Diggi Palace – stalls here are open to all designers, artisans, weavers and crafts people. 9 am to 7 pm on all 5 days of the festival.

The Pool Bazaar – this is a subsidised space with stalls being offered to NGO’s, craft collectives and people working in the development and sustainable space. 9 am to 7 pm on all 5 days of the festival.

More about Jaipur Discover Jaipur

Jal Mahal Jaipur Water Palace Known for its aesthetic beauty, architecture, temples, palaces, food, hand printing, blue pottery and jewellery, Jaipur started being called the Pink City back in 1876. So being from Jaipur, I would like to welcome you to my city, just as British Royalty were welcomed in 1876. In Jaipur when we meet our elders we say “Namaste.” To say this we bring the palms of our hands together before the face or chest and join them as if bowing. In reply the other person also greets you in the same way and says “Namaste”. Or if we are meeting someone who is very old like our grandparents, then we touch their feet to get blessings from them.
